...THE SOPRANOS
It’s more than a cult tv series. It has been even defined one of the most beautiful tv show ever.
Completed in 2007 it has left an empty space that Boardwalk Empire, a new tv series by the same scriptwriter, failed to fill entirely.
Tony Soprano creates 2 different feelings in who watches him: a strong contempt for the chauvinism, the violence and the conceit of which is capable; but also tenderness, considered what kind of monster his mother was and his “fellas”.
So a man that had such a childhood, that lives a life full of responsibility and with such a powerful position, surrounded by people that are waiting for his collapse, it’s normal that he has panic attacks and has to go to the analyst. But don’t forget: he is a Mafioso.
But in my opinion the unforgettable character of this tv series (and there are many: Silvio and Paulie just to name two) is Carmela Soprano, King Tony’s wife, who knows it all but she pretends not to know, the most hypocrite and false member in Soprano’s family, performed by a huge Edie Falco. A woman who goes to church, who has always a pray for everyone, who cares for her family but has a rifle hidden in the wall. Surely she was given this life but she has accepted it and made it her own.
However in the last season every tenderness for Tony has been pushed away: Cristopher’s death was unforgivable. That's where the dark started for him.

[È più di una serie cult. È stata addirittura definita una dei programmi tv più belli di sempre. Terminata nel 2007 ha lasciato un vuoto che Boardwalk Empire,nuova serie dello stesso sceneggiatore, non è riuscita del tutto a colmare.
Tony Soprano crea due sentimenti in chi lo guarda: un forte disprezzo per il maschilismo, la violenza e la vanità di cui è capace ma anche tenerezza, considerando quale mostro fosse sua madre e le sue “amicizie”.
Insomma un uomo che ha avuto una tale infanzia, con una vita piena di responsabilità e un simile posto di potere, attorniato da persone che non aspettano altro che un suo crollo, è normale che abbia attacchi di panico e debba andare dall’analista. Ma non dimentichiamoci che è un mafioso.
A mio parere però il personaggio indimenticabile della serie(e ce ne sono tanti: Silvio e Paulie per citarne due) è Carmela Soprano, la moglie di Re Tony, che sa tutto ma fa finta di non sapere, il membro più ipocrita e falso della famiglia Soprano, interpretato da un’immensa Edie Falco. Una donna che va in chiesa, ha sempre una preghiera per tutti, si occupa della famiglia ma ha un fucile nascosto nel muro. Certo si è trovata a vivere questa vita, ma l’ha accettata e fatta sua.
L’ultima stagione ha però allontanato ogni tenerezza verso Tony: imperdonabile la morte di Cristopher. È lì che è iniziato il buio per lui.
